Feelin' Lucky?

Friday is my first toon, as far as I'm concerned. Not technically, mind you. I mentioned before that my very first toon was an Undead Warlock with spiky hair. I thought it was very dark and goth and Punkish. But really, the Forsaken are mostly just grusome and twisted and too Metal for me.

Fri, though technically my second toon, was the one I really got into. So, put simply, that's why she's my main.

Unfortunately, she's also exceedinly unlucky.

RNG? Fuggitaboutit. Loot? None for Fri, thank you. Pick up 20 ears from mob-o-the-week with 44 ears each and with a drop rate of 90%? She'll have to kill 4000 to complete the quest. When I first started playing WoW, I ran VC over and over trying to get a particular sword to drop. Wanted two of them to dual wield. Nadda. Even after it was irrelevant, I kept running her through solo. Cleefy never dropped it for me, not once, that rotten, seaweed sucking, son of murloc bastard. Oh, I've seen it drop. Lots of times. Either didn't win the roll, or was running someone through that needed it.

This use to piss me off. Since maturing as a player, though, I don't even worry about it. If something isn't working I just go back later. Okay, technically I go kill the crap out of something until it's good and dead, let it respawn, and kill it good and dead again, just to take out my frustration. Lately, it's those elite giants that walk along the walls in Icecrown. But it's really the same sorta thing... Maturity = senseless slaughter, right?

What I've gotten better at is learning to do two or three things at once.

So if I can't find Shinys because some asshat Warlock, who runs in and grabs 'em while I'm killing all the giant, annoying snakes lurking about, took 'em all and I'm running around in the hot, steamy jungle in 200 lbs of armor with an idiot savant Shiny finder tagging along behind me... I just herb. Sure it takes me twice as long to complete the quest as most, but I come out of the dialy with 100g of herbs in my bags.

Ya gotta make luck work for ya, even if it's bad luck. :)

So you can imagine my surprise when in one day in HoL, Eternally Folded Blade dropped. Then in the next run (last night), Seal of the Pantheon dropped!

Wicked. :D

And now I are DEF capped enough to start buffing Hit and AP!!! Hooray!

Maybe Fri's luck is changing.

Maybe Alchemist Finklestein will finally just die.

Ah... dreams.

* And yes, in that first screenshot those are our bones when our healer got silenced and we wiped on trash. Like that's never happened to you before... :P

DC Does the Don

I keep forgetting to take pictures of stuffs Dark Clan has done. Usually having to much fun doing it. I did manage to snap a shot of three of us with our shiny new hats from Don Carlos. He was added to Old Hillsbrad in the Caverns of Time in the last patch. It wasn't until after we'd already left and hearth'd that we discovered you could run the fight in heroic mode and get the hat that has a doggie pet, as well. Ah well, another adventure for another day.

The fight is pretty simple. The first time we did it I figured there were three of us. A 68 Lock (Undrenar), a 70 Fire Mage (Violetvega) and me (Arms/Fury) so that's plenty of fire power. No heals, but hey it's one guy right? Okay, he's not that tough. But he has this annoying dog with him. And then there's the bit about the Lordaeron patrol that you DO NOT want to Thunderclap and piss off. So with the guards joining in the fun, ahem, we wiped pretty hard.

Second round we got smarter. The dog sheeps nicely. We had Undrenar's VW tank the Don and we all just flat out DPS'd. Poor guy went down fast and we stole his hat. I felt a little bad about that, but it works out in the end. :) Oh and there's an outfit that goes with it that includes a jacket and pants. Violet, the tailor, is making those for us.

I'm pruposely not telling you about the quest because it's kind fun and cute. Go see Don Carlos out by the GY just outside of Gadget. He'll getcha hooked up. Here's hoping Blizz adds a lot more stuff like this.

Recent photo stuffs

Haven't done screen shots in awhile, so here goes...

My S2 Helm the day they became available. I had been saving up for the S1 helmet anyhow, so it worked out nice. I don't display it though. It's freakin' FUUUUUGLY! Great stats, just horrendous to look at.

Did also get Exalted with Shatter Sun. Actually for awhile now. Got all excited to get the title and everything and then found out it was a vanity gold sink. Blah! So no title for me thanks. I'll keep working on Justicar, many moons down the road. I did get the tabard, though cause it's pretty good looking when ya need something formal or fancy.

The Fire Festival was a blast, and then I forgot which day it ended and all my blossoms disappeared. So I didn't get even one single reward. Very upset about that. Overall, though, the festival itself was a blast. More, Blizz! More!

I lagged hard on the way to the BG's and ended up mounted inside the castle. Heh! So here's me AND Bruce where he ain't spose to be. Ha Ha!

Damn lag.

Me in Warsong Gulch during a lag. It was a bad night. We still ended up winning four in a row. And then that was all the WSG I could stand for the night. Hate to quit on a winning streak, though. I try to play one of each of the BGs every night, plus the daily till I win. Though some days I'm in a mood and will only play one over and over again.

This is my "main alt," Neverontues. She's a Holy Priest about to start the 49 bracket Arathi Basin. The difference between playing a Warrior and a Priest may seem like night and day, but the synergy between the two classes is exceedingly important for both to understand. There's a strong symbiotic relationship between Priests and Warriors. They complete each other. Oh, and Priests kick ass in the Battlegrounds!

Just finishing up some quests from the Demon Hunter guy in Nagrand. He sends ya out to kill three baddies in different zones. Here's the ugly tongue guy in Zangar. These are cakewalk, btw. Easy to finish up at your leasure.

Another one of the baddies from the Demon Hunter dude. I just want to shake that guy and say "When do I get to play a Demon Hunter hero-class, ya igit!" This is probably the most challenging of them (though still silly easy) only because you have to clear out the Burning Legion mobs around her. Which just means more Marks of Sargaras for me! Woo hoo!

Dark Clan on the move in a fly-by of Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley. I believe we're headed to Legion Hold here. We're currently working on making this a flight of Netherdrakes. :) That's guildmaster Voldar in the background.

I hate these guys at the Elemental Plateau in Nagrand, but they drop yummie motes I need to make Alchemy things. So give 'em up ya fire breathing bastich. Gimmee!

That'll do for now. :D

How to Join Dark Clan

How do you join Dark Clan?

I dunno. :) We really don't have anything formal in place for joining, so here's my thoughts.

First the stats in brief, just in case you don't want to read my long, meandering posts:

Guild Name: Dark Clan
Realm: Fenris (US)
Battlegroup: Whirlwind
Affiliation: Alliance
Guildmaster: Voldar
Dark Lords (by level): Voldar, Violetvega, Beanbush, Fridaymacfay, Jayja, Tagnar, Duhgoat
Type: Social
Membership Roster: Dark Clan Official Roster
Website: http://darkclan.guildomatic.com/

Dark Clan Is

Dark Clan is a social guild for people to get together and have adventures on WoW. One our founders was the kinda guy that never went questing anywhere without a crowd. Not because it was easier, but because the game is a LOT more fun with people to share it with. I think his attitude toward the game is the most attractive aspect of our guild and demonstrates, better than anything I'll say here, the type of players we have and would like to recruit.

Dark Clan is an Alliance guild on the Fenris realm in the Whirlwind Battlegroup. Yup, we have the requisite tabbard, guild bank, and website. The guild is open to all classes, mains and alts. If you like playing WoW, you're in!

Mostly, Dark Clan is about having folks with which to share the WoW experience. For me, even when I'm solo'ing, having the guild chat going is awful nice. All the members are friendly and respectful. The Dark Lords and members alike will often drop what they're doing to help each other out.

Where are we in the game? At this point, we're looking to build membership up enough to run 5-mans and heroics regularly. Hitting the 10-man raids and starting Kara is definitely an interest in the guild right now, as well. Most of our 70s are working on faction rep and gearing. We DO like to see progression with our toons, just not at the sake of having fun!

What Dark Clan Isn't

While we certainly actively help players level, we are not a traditional Leveling Guild. We're not going to power level your toon to level cap as fast as possible. While trying not to speak for any other member, I think we all agree that leveling through the content is a HUGE and important part of the game.

We are not a Raiding Guild. We enjoy running instances together and in PUGs. It is certainly something most members would like to do more of as the guild grows. The promise of exclusively 10-man mode raids in the up coming expansions is a huge plus for a guild like ours. But I doubt we'll ever be a 4 or 5 night a week Raid Guild.

And Joining???

There's no formal process for joining Dark Clan. The Dark Lords (guild officers) pretty much agree that the main requirement is that you have to actually play with a member and be recommended. While not even remotely inclusive, some things we'd look for while adventuring with you would be:

* Friendly and easy to get along with. We're not talking pushovers that do what they're told. We're talking about people who are respectful and polite, and have an eye toward making the experience fun.

* Interested in learning your class. No one expects you to be an expert right off and we all recognize that there nuances of each class that require practice. Your level of skill is not really the issue. Mainly it's knowing how your class works in relation to other classes. As a whole, I'd say we ARE NOT be big fans of the "there's only one way to do this" school of playing WoW. ;)

* Be a group player. How your toon fits into the group they're playing with. Not how your class' abilities work in a group, but how YOU play that class in a group. The hunter who tanks with his pet, instead of letting the tank tank, is a good example of someone who doesn't know how to play their class with others. The hunter who uses their pet as an off tank when the cc resists, or in the absence of a proper OT, is an example of a player who does know how to adapt to a group.

* Contribute. Yeah, throw some mats, a green, a couple of gold in the Guild Bank occasionally. But contribute, for us, is largely about helping other players and joining them on adventures. Most of us like to have some quite solo time. That's a good thing. But if you're generally a solo-only player, joining any guild is probably not the thing for you. There's probably a small unspoken requirement in Dark Clan that you group up from time-to-time.

* Your main goal is to have fun. Dark clan just isn't going to be a guild for hardcore progression, end-game oriented players. We're all interested in that content, but we'll get there in our own time and have fun doing it. The same goes with all aspects of playing WoW. If it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing. :)

That may not be the most focused description of a guild ever. :) But that's kind of the point. If you like playing WoW, want to enjoy all aspects of the game, and have some pleasant company doing it, then Dark Clan is for you!

What not to do: Don't pester a Dark Lord (or any member) with invite requests. Ask for membership politely, once, and it'll get passed up to a Dark Lord right away. Don't dance naked in the streets trying to attract attention. We only do that during the Harvest Festival. Every guild has to have standards. (I think naked VC runs for new recruits should be required... but I'll probably get out voted on that one.) We're a fairly low key guild, so public broadcasts for membership on /Trade are probably not a good idea, either.

There's no application process. Seek out a member and ask to group with them sometime. If it looks like things are gonna work out, they'll pass your name up to a Dark Lord. The Dark Lord will send ya a tell, talk to you about the guild a bit, and offer you an invite. It's that easy. ;)

If you want an Excellent social guild, Dark Clan is for you. Chat with one of our members and join in the fun for a bit. We'd be happy to have ya!

Snaps of a little more recent nature...

I was gonna post all my WoW screenshots in chronological order... but there's over a thousand of em, and that's just not going to happen. So here's some more recent ones... in no particular order.

Preparing for Alterac Valley. AV is the bomb! You haven't fought until you've fought AV. So much fun it's freaky. :)

Hanging out at Honor Hold.

Killin' bad teddy bears in Winterfall. Great area, by the way.

My epic mount. :) I get a lot of "whar u get blck horse?" Answer? You fight your ass off in the battlegrounds. heh...

Someone was practically giving away Fiery Weapon in SW. How could I say no? :) I know it's not the most wicked enchant any more, but it's still one of the coolest looking. And I'm not dropping 200g or more on an enchant until I have a weapon worthy of it. So this does nicely for now.

DOH! This is why you do NOT stand in water around electricity. Zangor marsh is one of the coolest areas in the game. Two huge thumbs up!

Me and Voldar (Dark Clan's guildmaster) killin' stuffs in Zangor. 50g says there's Guinness in tha mug. heh... :P

Fighting undead. Plaguelands is one of my favorite areas of the game. Not particularly rewarding past level 60-61, but it ties in so heavily with the previous games that it's a blast. Also has two of the absolute best classic dungeons. The first time you enter Strath, your eyes will pop. Outland is fun, but a bit too sci-fi for me. Plaguelands is ALL original Warcraft. I hope WoLK will tie in with this area heavily and the whole area will get an update. Wouldn't that be nice.

Here I am demonstrating why Warriors must have +HIT gear. Oops.

Another Friday? Yup. On Coilfang, a PvP server. Here leveling in Westfall. PvP servers are fun for a little extra suspense, specially at low levels. Pretty damn funny when high level hordies show up and all us low levels go scurrying for cover, lest we get ganked.

For grins, a few Dark Clan members decided to hit ST. Just three of us, but it was fun. Tough instance, too. That's VioletVega in the back. Voldar is around the corner, I think. Neat shot.

Weirdness at the Pig & Whistle. Okay, so weirder than usual.
